HYLTON

William Richard Hylton is a British artist based in East Sussex, England. His celebrated Long Lunch series captures the pleasure of unhurried afternoons, good conversation, and the small indulgences that make life memorable. Blending expressive painterly surfaces with witty aphorisms, Hylton's works feature Books, Wine bottles, Tennis Courts and fragments of conversation that invite viewers to linger a little longer.

Often described as Churchill meeting Pollock, or Keats meeting Johns, his paintings balance sophistication with humour, combining gestural abstraction with a distinctly British wit. Quotations such as β€œIf you don't have anything nice to say, come sit next to me” transform everyday objects into playful meditations on friendship, pleasure, and the art of living well.

There is an irreverent charm at the heart of Hylton's workβ€”a celebration of long lunches, shared stories, and the belief that life's richest moments are often the least hurried.

Hylton is represented in England by Wychwood Art Gallery and Creed Gallery, and his work is exhibited regularly at leading art fairs throughout Europe.

His paintings are invitations to slow down, pour another glass, and celebrate the pleasures of good company."
