Lee Ellis explores the irreverent world of expressionistic figures and portraiture. Lee’s use of colors and patterns pulls you in as you explore the contemporary world of his imagination.  The raw and unapologetic style that is uniquely Lee’s, reflects upon the fluidity of city life.  Lee’s style is representative of the grit found throughout London and New Orleans.  Jo Holdsworth’s interpretations of New Orleans city life is a beautiful contrast to Lee’s work. Where Lee explores the gritty side of life, Jo explores the elegance of the city.  New Orleans is a city of contrasts and contradictions.  Like London, New Orleans is a city of striking poetic paradoxes. These opposing forces do not cancel each other out.  These forces fuse together to create these two cities’ unique identities.  There are; saints and sinners, the sacred and the profane, piety and pleasure, architectural elegance and decay, celebration and mourning, sophistication and vulgarity, tradition and innovation. “South Bank London” caps off this exhibition with its moody blues of the river. Connected through a vibrant pub and live music culture, a deep-rooted historical identity and a dense, walkable urban fabric built around a major winding river these two cities vibrate with energy.
